The Courant reports that firefighters responded to a small fire at a home in Middleton, CT early Tuesday. A residential sprinkler system kept the fire in check before firefighters arrived.
The fire was reported at a single-family home at 120 Monarca Drive around 1 a.m. Fire officials said the fire started in the wall near the fireplace.
Nobody was injured in the fire and damage was mainly contained to one room, according to fire officials.
The outcome of the fire could have been different without fire sprinklers due to the time of the time of day when this fire occurred. The majority of home fire victims - 30% of fire deaths – are asleep when the fire starts.
